Latin name:Zinnia elegans

These annuals are a sunny yellow addition to any flower garden that stands head and shoulders above most other garden plants. These zinnia plants grow to as tall as 5 feet and grow blooms that are as wide as 4” in diameter. The large size of these plants make them a perfect back-row plant that will both draw attention and serve as a backdrop to set off smaller flowers. The long stems and large size of the flowers make them useful as cut flowers. They also bring butterflies and bees to the garden. 

Plant zinnia canary seeds in full sun in an area that gets good drainage. Place the seeds about 6” to 12” apart. The ideal soil temperature for germination is 70 degrees. About one to two weeks after planting, the seeds will germinate. This fast-growing plant will be blooming within 70 to 80 days of being planted. Give the zinnia canary plenty of water, but avoid overwatering the seeds and the growing plants. Seeds are packaged and germination tested for the current year.
